Everyone has a set of principles or rules that they live by. Most often they?re unspoken, unwritten and unnoticed. But each and every one of us is wired to respond to different situations based upon your life?s principles.
Often times they are hard-wired in us from birth by way of our parents, our surroundings, but as we age and mature, life shapes us.
How do you know when to say goodbye to a friendship. Either romantic or just a simple friendship?
Or how about work, what are your work habits?
What?s your perspective on money? How do you earn it? Do you believe in donating?
The way you live your life is based upon your set of principles. Your belief system.
I think it’s important to write them down and reflect upon them. You may find that you have a belief system that if read aloud may actually sound crazy.
And that my friend, would be a clear first step in making a change for the better.
Here are a few of mine that I just thought about and put on paper.? And I’m not saying I?m right either, because Lord knows I need help.? But I do have the hope that in five years I’m a different person.
Rules To Live By
?Work hard – Sometimes you have to work twice as hard as your competitor.
?No matter how much work you have, don?t neglect your workout. It?s the start of a slippery slope.
?Go to sleep get some rest. Trust me, you will feel so much better.
?Putting work over sleep starts a chain reaction. You get tired and start making mistakes, but because you stayed up late working, tomorrow will come and tomorrow you will be tired, and you won?t be very good. (Get some rest)
?It?s better to work hard in spurts. Eliminate distractions and get it done. Rest your eyes. Start over.
?If you get into an argument with someone, once it?s over it?s over. Let it go and move on.
?Remember, while you may move on, they may never forget?Keep one eye open.
?Forgiveness is not for them, it?s for you.
?If you elect not to forgive, that?s your burden, most likely that person has moved on.
Family & Friends
?A family is a beautiful thing.
?Friends come and go, you can lose touch with friends, outgrow friends, get mad with friends, but family is there forever. When things go wrong, it?s a good chance family will be the only ones there.
?Everyone that smiles and shakes your hand is not your friend.
?If someone gossips to you about someone else. Trust me, they’re talking about you to someone else.
?Sometimes you have to encourage yourself. (I know it?s a gospel song, but there?s a story to it.)
?Anytime there is a clear set of step by step instructions on how to do something, most likely it won?t work. (I?m mainly talking about “get rich quick schemes.”)
?Know yourself, what works for your neighbor may not work for you. It?s okay to do it your way.
?Keep your business to yourself, while it?s good to seek wise counsel, too much good advice turns into people giving free opinions, which in return does nothing but confuses you. Before you make a decision, think about it, get a clear head about what you?re going to do. Then do it without worrying about what others will say.
?This one here is timeless. Stop trying to keep up with the Jones?. Just do you!
?If you?re learning something new, remember it?s always awkward and overwhelming for anyone starting and learning something new.
?It?s okay to be patient with yourself.
?It?s okay to push yourself too.
?It?s also okay to be alone. Time with “self” is good. Good for the mind and good for clarity.
Truth & Honesty
?Be honest and trustworthy.
?Sometimes to lie is easier, but it?s never a good longterm strategy, the truth will always come out. It?s better to rip the band-aid off and let some air get to the wound. It helps with the healing.
Routines & Habits
?I love routines, it gets you in the flow and rhythm of the day.
?Routines also help you keep good habits alive.
?Reading is truly fundamental. It helps the mind relax and focus.
?Just because you pick up a book doesn?t mean you have to finish it.
?Don’t worry about how long a book is, just read a little here and there. I?ve read countless books that were designated only as bathroom reads.
The beautiful thing about life is that it’s always giving.? It gives the good and the bad, the easy days, and the tough days.? But the one thing that is always true about life, is that it always teaches us a lesson.
Even when we refuse to see the lesson, life has its way of shaping who we are.
We as people were designed to endure tough times, we were designed to adapt to any situation.? So my set of principles and rules come from me making life mistakes, have a few successes here and there and adopting a rule book that can give me the best chance at succeeding.
But caution, sometimes the playbook that we adopt is not a winning playbook.
There are things that I subconsciously believe unknowingly and it affects my life, but there again I’m only here to learn and I encourage you to write down what you believe in the near future and analysis it.
We all need a winning playbook there’s enough for everyone.
That’s all I got folks, Peace!??
